Abu Dawood 4849
Abu Barzah said: The Messenger of Allahﷺ forbade sleeping immediately before Isha prayer and talking after it
There are 5x daily prayers (salah). Allahﷻ spaced salah throughout the day to help refresh and rejuvenate us. He does not need our salah, He is ٱلْغَنيُّ (Al-Ghaniyy – Free of need). Salah is to save us from ourselves. Sometimes we are stuck in a rut, the arrogance takes us, the desire overcomes us, or the anger, the grief, the guilt. Salah can free us from all kinds of harmful emotions and get us back to our fully functioning happy self.
إِنَّ ٱلصَّلَوٰةَ تَنْهَىٰ عَنِ ٱلْفَحْشَآءِ وَٱلْمُنكَرِ
Al-Qur’an 29:45
Indeed, prayer deters from indecency and wickedness
If followed in a timely manner, salah helps keep us on-track and improve efficiency in life, mentally and physically. After Isha (evening) salah there is no obligatory salah until Fajr (dawn) salah. Prophetﷺ peace be upon him recommended we go to sleep immediately after Isha salah and avoid getting into unnecessary conversations – Sahih al-Bukhari 568 (book 9:543), Sahih Muslim 647 (book 5:1351-1352), Ibn Majah 702 (book 2:702). One of many drawbacks of delaying night sleep is it prevents from golden time of worship, voluntary Tahajjud salah, prior to Fajr salah.
